Like with physical tapes, you will need to import and recatalog the tapes with the new DPM serve...

Re: Unable to open medium
Do not use drive letters in media names because an external HDD may have a different drive letter or no letter at all assigned to it in the security context of the Firestreamer Helper Service. Re: Tape questions
how do I monitor the available space on the tapes I created? Is there a way to tell if the tapes are almost used up and I need to create more tapes? It's the backup software that should display the tape usage data, not a tape drive. Normally, you don't need to monitor tapes with Microsoft DPM. It s...

You need to check the Activity view of Firestreamer Snap-In for warning or error messages. See also W004: The medium is write protected.

Re: Automation
According to Automation , before using the Firestreamer interface, you need to register it first with the following command line: For a 32-bit operating system: C:\WINDOWS\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v2.0.50727\RegAsm.exe /codebase "C:\Program Files\Cristalink\FsChanger\FirestreamerInterface.dll&qu...

Re: DPM 2010 + Firestreamer + Data Domain
Their "tape markers" most likely refer to proprietary formats used by various vendors for virtual tape. Firestreamer is from a vendor that Data Domain doesn't seem to support yet. We will try to contact them next week. I will post any updates here.
